A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Gear: Trials and ErrorsUtah Trip

As many of you already know, we are going on a trip to Utah early this summer. We’ve been planning which hikes we want to do, what gear we need, and how to make coffee out in the middle of nowhere. One other thing we’ve been planning is how to share it all with you guys. As the saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Unfortunately, a picture doesn’t even present the absolute magnificence and splendor of the desert southwest in all of its glory. But, we are going to do the best we can. In order to do this, we decided to upgrade our equipment.

First off, we purchased a GoPro Hero 5 with a Karma stabilizer. We took it for a test run this past Tuesday to Fort Pickens Beach. The difference in quality of the video is awesome. The stabilizer alone makes a huge difference.

Secondly, we will be getting Camden a Nikon D3400 to practice with. We are still looking for the best price for that one though.

Hopefully between these two, we will be able to get pictures as close to the real thing as possible to share with you.

Also, we’re still kicking around the idea of a 360 degree camera. Still trying to get that one past the budget committee. Wish me luck!

Here’s a couple pictures from our adventure on Fort Pickens Beach.

Keep a lookout for a video of my mom’s favorite hike at Fort Pickens Beach.
