Why My Christmas Tree is Orange

Seasons

I love being outdoors, so I love bringing the outdoors in with my decorating. I love old flaking paint and rusted metals. I love using antlers, branches, pine cones, and rocks. Orange has been my favorite color for quite a few years now, probably since I fell in love with the orange rock and sand in Utah. You knew that Utah is one of our favorite places to hike, right? Slowly but surely our home has started to pick up accents of orange. An orange wall here, orange accent pillows there, in fact, Camden isn’t too happy with me right now because I just painted the stools in the kitchen orange. One of them is his. His brothers didn’t care, but Camden definitely did not want his stool to be orange. He feels so strongly about it that I had to buy him another stool that wasn’t orange to make him happy. So it didn’t seem strange to my guys at all when I went whole hog and changed our traditional red and green Christmas tree to orange.

Welcome

Orange Stool

Now I must not be the only person in the world with this obsession with orange, because I was able to find orange glass ball ornaments, but hey, you can find ornaments almost any color nowadays.

The only thing my family finds stranger than my obsession with orange is my obsession with burlap. Because, well, I’m allergic to it. The dust from burlap makes me itch, sneeze, get all stuffed up, etc. But I love it anyway and use it all through the house in my decorating. Thankfully, as long as it is just sitting there, it doesn’t bother me. Every time I start using it for another project, sneezing as I go, Gavin says, “Seriously Mom? Why do you do this to yourself?”

Now if you know me well at all, you also know my love for the beach. So yep, I’ve got that one covered as well.
How do you decorate for Christmas? Does your decorating loudly proclaim your favorite things, or are you more traditional? I’d love to see pictures of your favorite Christmas decorations!
